I'm not getting notifications
TACENZA Chat notifications are off until you turn them on, and push is set per device. Check browser permission, push, quiet hours and chat settings.
Notifications are off until you turn them on, and there are two kinds:
- Notifications appear while TACENZA Chat is open, or installed and running.
- Push notifications wake a device when Chat is closed. They’re set up separately on each device.
Go to Settings › Notifications on the device that should notify you. Choose Turn on notifications, then switch on Push notifications on this device if you want them while Chat is closed.
If they still don’t arrive
- “Notifications are blocked for Tacenza.” You said no when the browser asked. Allow notifications in your browser’s site settings – usually the icon to the left of the address – and reload.
- “Push isn’t available here.” This browser can’t receive push. On iPhone and iPad, install Chat first: in Safari, tap Share, then Add to Home Screen, and turn push on from the installed app.
- Your device or system is silencing them. Check the system’s Do Not Disturb or focus modes, and that your browser is allowed to show notifications.
- Quiet hours are on. Check Quiet hours in Settings › Notifications. Your Do not disturb status silences notifications too.
- You’ve switched some off. Under Notify me about, check messages in 1:1 chats, messages in groups, mentions and the rest.
- The chat is muted, or set to notify about less. Open the chat’s info and check Notify me about and Mute.
- You logged out. Logging out removes push from that device. After you log in again, check that push is still on.
- Chat is open on screen. Push shows nothing while a TACENZA window is visible – you’re already looking at it.
What push notifications show
A push notice says only You have a new message. It never includes who wrote or what, because it travels through your browser maker’s push service (Google, Mozilla, Apple or Microsoft). You’ll get at most one push notice a minute.
Notifications shown while Chat is open can include the sender. Choose Show message text in Settings › Notifications if you also want the text.
Prefer email?
If the service offers it, you can get a short email when you’ve been away. See How do I turn on email notifications?
