How do I turn on email notifications?
Get a short email from TACENZA Chat when you've been away and something new arrived. How to turn it on, what it reveals, and why you might not see the option.
Go to Settings › Notifications and find Email notifications. Enter your email address, confirm it with the 6-digit code we send you, and you’re done.
Once it’s on, you get a short email when you’ve been away for an hour and something new arrived – at most one a day, and never while you’re connected. The email never says who wrote or what, or which chat it was.
If you don’t see the option
Email notifications only appear if the service is set up to send email. If Email notifications isn’t in Settings › Notifications, it isn’t available right now. Use push notifications instead.
If the code doesn’t work
- “That code didn’t work, or it has expired. Ask for a new one.” A code works for 30 minutes and allows a few tries. Ask for a new code and use the newest one.
- No email arrived. Check your spam or junk folder, and that you typed the address correctly.
Not getting the emails?
- You only get one if you’ve been away for an hour and something new arrived.
- There’s at most one a day.
- Nothing is sent while Chat is connected on one of your devices.
- Check your spam folder, and mark the email as not spam.
This is the only real-world detail TACENZA’s server can ever hold about you. With email notifications on, your email address is stored in plain text, and our mail provider sees it when a note is sent. It’s used for nothing else.
Turn it off
In Settings › Notifications, select Turn off and delete the address under Email notifications. Your address is deleted from the server.
