It says "Too many attempts"
TACENZA Chat asks you to wait a few seconds before trying again. Why the limits exist, why the wait can grow, and what to do while you wait.
Wait the number of seconds shown, then try again once. “Too many attempts. Try again in … s.” means you’ve done the same thing many times in a short time – logging in, sending, joining with invite links and so on. Nothing is wrong with your account, and nobody has read anything: the limits only count how often something happens, never what you write.
If it keeps happening, check these:
- Don’t keep retrying. Each refusal within about 10 minutes makes the next wait longer, up to a minute. Waiting once is quicker than trying again and again.
- Check what you type before you try again. When logging in, a wrong password counts as an attempt. Take a moment to check the username, the password and Caps Lock. If you’ve forgotten the password, use your recovery key instead of guessing.
- Your account is new. New accounts have somewhat lower limits for their first day.
- Your message requests were declined. When people block or delete your first messages as unwanted, your limits are lower for a while. They recover by themselves within an hour.
- A shared network. Some limits apply to a whole network. On a school, office or public network, other people’s attempts can count too.
“Tacenza is very busy right now”
“Tacenza is very busy right now. Try again in … s.” means the service is under heavy load and is pausing less urgent things, such as new sign-ups, so messages keep flowing. Wait and try again. Check the status page to see if something is wrong.
“Slow mode is on”
“Slow mode is on. Wait … s.” is a group setting, not a limit on your account. The group’s admins chose how often each member can post.

Still stuck?
If you’re refused for a long time during normal use, contact support and tell us what you were doing and the message you saw. We don’t publish the exact limits, but we can check whether one is set too low.
