How do I block someone?

Open your 1:1 chat with the person, open the chat’s info, and choose Block under Leave or delete. If their chat is still a message request, choose Block right in the chat.

Confirm, and you’ll see “… is blocked.”

What blocking does

Their 1:1 chat disappears from your list, and their messages are hidden.
In groups you share, their messages show as Message from a blocked user.
They never mark chats as unread for you.
They aren’t told.

Note

Blocking happens on your devices, not on TACENZA’s server. That way the server never learns whom you block. It also means TACENZA can’t stop them sending – your devices just hide what they send. Your block list is stored encrypted in your account, so it applies on all your devices.

Unblock someone

Go to Settings › Privacy Center › Blocked users and choose Unblock next to the person. You can also open their chat info and choose Unblock.

If blocking isn’t enough

Stop strangers reaching you. Turn on Message requests in Settings › Privacy Center, so first messages from people you haven’t written to wait in a separate folder. See Where are my message requests?
Stop being added to groups. Set Who can add me to groups to Nobody – only invite links in the same place.
Delete the chat. In the chat info, Delete chat deletes it and its messages for both of you.
In a group, report their messages to the group’s moderators, or leave the group. See Someone is spamming my group.
Report them to TACENZA if they’re breaking the rules. See How do I report abuse?

If you’re in danger, contact your local emergency services.
